Although everything you need will be provided, many students prefer to have their own supplies. Below is a list of materials we will be using during the year.

Just a tip, before you buy anything new, check your house for any supplies you might already have. Last year's scissors will cut just fine, rulers haven't changed a bit since last year, and I have highlighters that are older than your third grader and still work perfectly!

Please unwrap items like glue sticks and pencils before sending them into school.

Things We’ll Use in Third Grade!
  • 1 one-inch binder with plastic overlay cover for reading/writing
  • 1 package of 5 tab, binder dividers (open and put inside binder please)
  • 1 pencil box-must fit in student mailbox
  • One package of thick or thin markers
  • Colored pencils (12) or crayons (24 ct.)
  • 4 pocket folders with or w/o metal tabs (red, green, blue, and yellow)
  • 1 wide-ruled 70-page spiral notebook
  • 1 composition notebook for writing
  • 1 dark-colored dry-erase markers
  • 4 large glue sticks or 8 small
  • 2 yellow highlighters
  • Children’s scissors (labeled w/name)
  • 1 12-inch ruler (optional)
  • Pencils and cap erasers
  • 1 pair of headphones/earbuds for iPad use in the classroom (labeled w/name)
  • 1 art shirt in a sealed gallon Ziploc bag. Name should be on the shirt and on the bag. This will be kept in our room and taken to art class each week.
  • 1 box tissues
  • 1 container of disinfecting cleaning wipes (for student desks/doorknobs, etc)

  • Please have your child write their name or initials on all school supplies, including individual pencils to help prevent lost supplies.

  • Students can bring their supplies to school on Meet the Teacher afternoon, August 21, at 4pm.

While it might seem like overkill, it is a great idea to have your child write their name or initials (with a permanent marker) on each pencil, gluestick, and even  on individual markers and crayons. Supplies wind up on the floor each and every day, and it is much easier to get them to their rightful owners when they have names or initials on them. I will provide pre-printed name labels for all folders and notebooks so there is no need to mark those items beforehand.
